Arborist

An arborist, or (less commonly) arboriculturist, is a professional in the practice of arboriculture, which is the cultivation, management, and study of individual trees, shrubs, vines, and other perennial woody plants. An informal term is 'tree surgeon'.

Earth Anchor

An earth anchor is a device that is designed to support structures and is used in geotechnical and construction applications. It can also be referred to as a ground anchor, percussion driven earth anchor or mechanical anchor. Earth anchors can be used in either temporary or permanent applications.

Root-die

Encircling roots at or below the surface of the ground that tend to strangle the plant.

Tree Topping

Tree topping is the practice of removing whole tops of trees or large branches and/or trunks from the tops of trees, leaving stubs or lateral branches that are too small to assume the role of a terminal leader. Other common names for the practice include hat-racking, heading, rounding over, and tipping.

Tree Lopping

Tree lopping is the process of trimming various sections of a tree. The lopping may involve clearing away branches or limbs, or even shortening trunks.

Staking

A stick or post, pointed at one end for driving into the ground and used as a support for a plant or tree.
