Short Skilled Courses, based on SAQA unit standards

The Tree Guru can develop and undertake training based on any unit standards under the Agri-Seta, from level 1-3. The Tree Guru facilitates employed and unemployed learnerships as well as short skilled courses, where funding is obtained from the Seta.

Course one: Introduction to Arboriculture, Tree Guru

This two-day course provides an introduction to basic Arboriculture. It is aimed at tree lovers, enthusiasts, homeowners, weekend gardeners and full-time gardeners. The course covers tree biology, tree planting, basic pruning, three-point cutting, tree myths and other tips for maintaining trees at home. It includes theoretical as well as practical work.

Course two: Bridging course in Arboriculture, Tree Guru

This is a four to five day course, depending on requirements. The arboriculture bridging course is aimed at tree owners, tree buyers and growers, garden managers, landscapers and horticultural contractors in commercial environments such as estates, casinos, game lodges, golf clubs, hotels, resorts and municipal areas. The course includes an in-depth look at tree biology, advanced tree planting, hazard tree evaluation, and the identification of diseases, fungus and insect issues. It includes theoretical as well as practical work.
